A Poor Girl's Guide to Having Hobbies

A lot of people in their twenties find themselves living mainly paycheck to paycheck. At the same time, we get a hankering to have hobbies or do activities. Living with little to no disposable income can put a damper on your desire. When our pockets are poor, our creativity needs to be rich.

Here are a few surefire activities that are promised not to break the bank:

1.) Brunch with friends

My friends and I tend to save brunch for once a week on Sundays. Since it's costly, we rarely go out to eat throughout the week. Saving it for the end of the week gives you something to look forward to (and catching up with your besties isn’t bad either). Many Sunday brunch specials even offer $1 mimosas. Have I sold you on the idea yet?

2.) Antiquing

I love to explore unique vintage shops. I typically don't purchase anything, but it always expands my creativity and inspires me for future projects. It's also fun to imagine the remarkable story behind each antique piece.

3.) Matinee all the way

I cannot tell you the last time I have been to an evening show at the movies. Carmike Cinema’s matinee is only $6.75. That’s not the best part! Everyday between 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., their Super Bargain matinee tickets are only $5.00. It gets better. On Tuesdays, aka Super Stimulus Tuesdays, you can get your popcorn and drink for $1.00 each. Double feature, anyone?

4.) Free festivals and events

One of the best parts about Chattanooga is that there is always something to do. Free events are a staple to the city. You can find them on ChattanoogaFun.com and ChattanoogaNow.com

5.) Hike

We are in a prime location for some gorgeous mountaintop views. Not utilizing the massive, beautiful mountains is just wrong. My favorite locations to go exploring are Sunset Rock, Cloudland Canyon, and Chilhowee Mountain.

Don't let your budget hold you back. Comment below with your favorite, affordable hobbies or activities!
