As you can see, my house is covered in beautiful hues of orange, red, and yellow. Every time I step outside, I get more and more inspired by the crisp autumn leaves. It makes me sad we have such a short time to enjoy this stunning season. In order to take advantage of the beautiful leaves, I realized it was time for a DIY. What better way to enjoy the leaves than utilizing them for a little craft? That being said, I decided to create an autumn leaf bowl.
What you’ll need:
Dampened leaves from your front yard
*I originally bought leaf garland for this project from the craft store, and I tried removing the entire plastic stem. This was a disaster! The faux leaves were still too thick and would not mold to the balloon at all. Leaves from my front yard worked perfectly. I realized the thinner the leaves, the better they mold.
Mod podge (satin or matte finish)
Foam brush
Balloon
Scissors
Sauce pan (I found a mixing bowl to be too big and didn’t secure the balloon well enough)

Steps:
Snip the stems off all of the leaves.
Fill up your balloon to fit snug into your sauce pan.
Pour your mod podge into a cup and apply a thin layer on top of your balloon.
On the center of your balloon, lay a leaf on top of the wet mod podge and smooth it out with another layer of mod podge using your foam brush.
Keep adding leaves from the center of the balloon working a quarter of the way down.
Cover up any empty spaces with leaves.
Let it dry overnight.
The next day, poke a tiny hole in the balloon and slowly let it deflate. Pick off any unwanted parts of dried mod podge that may be stuck to the leaves.
Use your bowl to hold Kisses (like mine), other treats, or a small candle!

Enjoy your DIY and be proud of yourself for utilizing Mother Nature’s finest décor!
