Today, we're talking all about an article of clothing that every woman in America owns...jeans! (Hopefully you got my holiday pun) Now, think of your favorite pair of jeans that you own, or perhaps owned in the past. Remember how great it felt when you finally found the pair that fit you perfectly in the dressing room? Gosh, that was a great day. The price was not even an issue, because it felt like you struck gold in the store. Since that day of finding the magical sisterhood of the traveling pants, many of you have longed to find another perfectly fitting pair, but have had no luck.
I wish I could offer a secret tip to finding your next perfect pair of jeans, but all I can do is enlighten you on the various types of fits. But first, let me suggest to bring along a friend when shopping for jeans. It's always nice to have a close girlfriend to advise you on how great (or not so great) you look in the pants. It also gives you confidence in making the purchase that typically requires a little splurging. Second, you may find a pair of jeans that you really like, but they are a tad too long. I have long legs, so I often have the opposite problem. But for those of you with shorter legs, remember that a tailor can easily hem the jeans for a reasonable price! When I worked at Banana Republic, I assisted many ladies who decided to get their jeans hemmed because they fit so well. The ladies were always so happy they chose to make the decision, because they literally created their perfect jean!
Now, let's look at some of the various types of jeans that you may want to try!
1. Skinny Jeans
Skinny jeans are my go-to denim fit because of my long legs. An issue with skinny jeans, however, is that they tend to have extra fabric. This is when our tailor comes in handy, because they can easily hem any extra fabric. Skinny jeans also look great with any type of shoe, i.e. tall boots, heels or flats.

2. Boot-Cut Jeans
Boot-cut jeans are flattering on just about anyone, especially those of you with curvier hips. The slight flare in the jeans helps balance out your curves and makes your calves and thighs look thinner, as long as they aren't too long at the bottom. *Ahem, tailor*

3. Straight-Leg Jeans
Straight-leg jeans are similar to the boot-cut jeans in the sense that they are also flattering for most body types. The straight-leg is not nearly as tight as the skinny jean and makes the perfect office appropriate jean. This jean can also be versatile if you prefer a solid wash for work and a distressed look for going out.

4. Trouser Jeans
Trouser jeans have a sophisticated look, also making them an ideal jean for the office. This pant fits like a traditional trouser work pant and pairs best with heels in my opinion. The jeans are typically a high rise pant, so I suggest tucking in a blouse with them and possibly adding a cute belt.

5. Boyfriend Jeans
I love when women can pull off a good boyfriend jean. This is the pair that I've been searching for, but haven't struck gold yet. The pant is baggy, so pair them with a fitted top to avoid looking sloppy. This jeans looks great with a cute flat sandal or a trendy heel.

Okay, these are the five most common types of jeans that I would encourage you to explore! Ideally, we could all find a perfect pair of each type, so let's keep dreaming. Most importantly, don't let the frustration of jean shopping get you down. I promise that your favorite jean is out there waiting for you to find it. Now, grab your bestie and start the hunt for your next favorite pair of jeans!
