Girl's Guide to Getting Ready In 20 Minutes

We've all had those mornings where we've pressed snooze more times in a row than we want to admit. Those extra five minutes of glorious sleep seem so beneficial at the time. Well, not when those measly five turn into thirty extra minutes…or maybe even a whole hour (guilty!). Nothing is worse than waking up and realizing you have 20 minutes before you have to leave for work. Luckily, even after numerous snoozes, I actually never hop out of bed feeling pressed for time, even with a tiny, 20 minute window. There is a way to get ready in minutes and still look presentable at the office.

Here are my tricks: 1.) Think ahead The first thing I do when I pop out of bed is brush my teeth. While I'm brushing, I realize that I don't have time to stare at my closet for minutes to figure out an outfit. A lot of times I love to just throw on a dress; it's just one piece to think about rather than a blouse, a pant, and even a sweater. If you want to opt out on a dress, then go for a go-to outfit. Perhaps choose your favorite top that goes with everything! If needed, add your classic black or solid color sweater. 2.) Tease it out I'm lucky that my hair is naturally straight. But, with that being said, it's FLAT. The combination of my ultra-flat hair and not having time to shower in the morning leaves my hair looking greasy and plastered to my head. In order to add a quick fix, I usually add baby powder to soak up any oils and tease the crown of my head for volume. The end product leaves my hair oil-free and voluminous. 3.) Bolder is better You can easily cut corners with your makeup and still look beautiful. Think about three essential applications you can't live without. For me, it’s mascara, bronzer, and an eyebrow pencil. Although, a really easy effort that will make your entire outfit look planned and put together is a red lip. Since red lips require less eye makeup, it's a quick and glamorous go-to. 4.) Hit the bar Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You don't want to skip out on it just because you don't have time to make scrambled eggs. Buy a box of nutritious and filling breakfast bars for your last minute mornings. Otherwise, you'll leave your tummy rumbling all day and throw your metabolism off balance. Another way to really save time that I don’t do (but wish I did) is plan your outfit the night before. You’re good to go and won’t even have to think ahead. What tips and tricks do you practice during your early morning routine?
