A couple of weeks ago, our team was in the mood to bake a delicious sweet treat. This happens every so often where we put our baking skills to the test and try our luck at a recipe that requires more steps than "pulling apart and baking." That being the mood, we searched for a solid 30 minutes on Pinterest in order to find one recipe that would satisfy each of our taste buds' cravings. The result? The most deliciously sweet and perfectly moist cake on the planet known as the Honey Bun cake. And now I will share this easy recipe with you all that is perfect for a family dinner, special occasion, or a Friday night bake session with your roomies. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix

  • 8 ounce tub sour cream

  • 4 eggs

  • 3/4 cup of vegetable oil

  • 1 cup of brown sugar

  • 1 Tbsp of ground cinnamon

  • 2 cup of powdered sugar

  • 4 Tbsp of milk

  • 1 Tbsp of vanilla

Step One:

  • Preheat oven to 325. Also, this cake should be prepared in a 9 x 13 pan.

Step Two:

  • In large mixing bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, oil, and sour cream. Stir by hand until large lumps are gone.

  • Pour half the batter into the pan.

  • Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture all over the batter in the cake pan.

Step Four:

  • Now carefully spread the other half of the batter on top. Don't worry that the batter and brown sugar topping will get all mixed together!

Step Five:

  • Once it's all spread around, take a butter knife and twirl it all through the batter. Bake for 40 minutes or until a fork comes out clean.

Step Six:

  • Once the cake is almost finished baking, mix together the powdered sugar, vanilla and milk.

Step Seven:

  • Once the cake comes out of the oven, immediately pour the powdered sugar mixture over the warm cake. This will create a yummy glaze that will crackle over the cake. Try to wait 15 minutes before cutting into the cake.

*Note: this will be extremely difficult because your house will smell like a freshly lit Yankee Candle.*

Step Eight:

  • Make yourself a fresh pot of coffee and indulge.
