This past Saturday, Randi and I ventured over to Revelator Coffee Company to see what the [coffee] buzz was about. Located on the corner of Market St. and Frazier Ave., I couldn't help but think what better location could there be for a coffee shop? If the show, "Friends" took place in today's time and in Chattanooga, there would've been a hefty fight coming from Central Perk to steal that corner real estate.
When opening the doors to Revelator, I instantly entered into the most modern and minimalistic coffee shop I have ever been to. The white walls had nothing on them, the menu had only a handful of options, and there was a lot of extra space. The odd part is, I liked it. It was simple. There is nothing about the year 2015 that is simple anymore.

When I was ordering, I noticed how uncanny the resemblance was between the barista and the famous 50 Shades of Grey actress, Dakota Johnson. Anyways, despite how simple the menu was, I had a difficult time trying to figure out how to ask for a regular mocha (sorry if I'm not hip enough, guys). Dakota Johnson 2.0 came to the rescue and understood what I meant. I ordered an almond tart too.

On my way to sit down, I was drawn by their nicknack wall that includes a number of different books and candles. There's a Tobacco scented candle that I wish I could tie around my neck and wear as a necklace so I could smell it at all times. Weird? Crossing the line? Nah.

Tick...tock...tick...tock. Checking the time on the clock like Britney in Baby One More Time. All I ordered was a mocha and almond tart. I have to say it was the longest I've ever waited for a coffee drink and small dessert. It was pushing 20 minutes. If I was by myself and didn't have Randi to talk to while I waited, I would've been a lot more annoyed.
When Dakota Johnson 2.0 called my name after my clothes had become out of style and the iPhone 7 was announced, I walked up and immediately forgot about how long I had waited because...it had a foam design (giddy inside but pretending to act normal). This was no mocha, it was a work of art! I know, I know, foam designs are becoming more popular, and I may be easy to please.

However, the leaf's lifespan had to come to an end, and it was time for me to indulge. Overall, I'd say the mocha was just good. It become more rich as I kept sipping, which lead me to not be able to finish all of it (which is rare). I found the almond tart to be delicious with just the right amount of sweetness and flakiness. It complimented my mocha nicely.
Overall, I had a good experience. I'll be honest-my favorite part was actually the atmosphere and simplicity. I felt like my head was clear and it was a place that I could escape to and just relax. It's certainly a window lighting lover's paradise. Would I go back? Sure. The wait was long, but I'd give it another shot. There could've been reasons as to why that I wouldn't know about because I'm not behind the bar. I think it's fair to give this place a second shot in the future.
What's your favorite Chattanooga coffee spot? We'd love to know!
