Before you read any further, might I suggest playing this song in the background: "Birthday" by Selena Gomez.

If you or a friend has a birthday celebration coming up, you don't have to drive to Atlanta or Nashville to make memories and have an incredible time! Chattanooga, literally, is the Best Town Ever, but you may need some suggestions on planning your evening of fun. So we've put together a list of ideas depending on your party vibe that will, hopefully, lead to the most fun birthday party ever!

1. The "Low Key" Birthday

Believe it or not, many people don't like celebrating their birthday. (I know, I don't get it either). This is a celebration of the day you entered this world, and you deserve to be celebrated! However, if you want to keep things pretty chill, I'd suggest a birthday dinner with your closest friends at Blue Plate, which is located by the river and the Aquarium, or at Tony's Pasta Shop next to Rembrandt's Coffee House. After dinner, you guys can grab ice cream at Cold Stone, right next door to Blue Plate, or get a drink from Rembrandt's and walk the Walnut Street Bridge. Good food, good conversation and you can end the night early if you so desire.

2. The "I'm Under 21" Birthday

Another shocker to many is the fact that you CAN have a fun birthday without alcohol being consumed. "Really, but...how?!" Check out the Chattanooga Jump Park or SuperFly Extreme Air Sports. These are the kind of activities where memories are made! There's also bowling at Southside Social if you arrive earlier in the evening before they start to check IDs. If you're like me, you may (always) want to see a movie, and the downtown Chattanooga theater is perfectly convenient for this. Finally, another option is to get your adrenaline pumping at High Point Climbing And Fitness, aka the terrifying-looking rock wall located downtown. Have I convinced you there are lots of fun, alcohol-free activities? Good!

3. The "I'm Legal But Just Want A Couple Drinks" Birthday

I get it. You enjoy drinking socially but have zero desire to regret your birthday celebration the next morning. One idea is to celebrate your birthday in the morning over brunch and mimosas. Try the brunch at the Bitter Alibi or the Flying Squirrel! If you prefer celebrating at night, Universal Joint has a great patio that's perfect for a few drinks and corn hole. Also, the Social bar connected to the Public House has a sophisticated vibe that often features live music or a DJ. Remember, anything can be fun if you decide to make it fun!

4. The "Turn Down For What" Birthday

If you've made up your mind to #turnup first and foremost make sure you have a designated driver so that you don't blow $10,000 on your birthday because you foolishly thought you were "okay" to drive. Once that person is decided upon, start your night with a tasty dinner at Clyde's on Main Street followed by some of their "candy shots" for dessert...so good. After that, head on over to Southside Social where you can enjoy some whisky slushies and life-size jenga. If you're in the mood for dancing, Bella Vita has a club-like dance floor where you can do the Whip and the Nae Nae amidst fellow drunken peers drenched in sweat.

(*not actually Bella Vita)

No matter your party vibe or personality, Chattanooga has SO many great places and fun things to do, guaranteed to ensure a fabulous birthday! What's your favorite spot downtown?
