Awkward Weather Transitioning

Last weekend was the best weather weekend of my life. Then came Monday morning. I stepped out the door for work and it was as if I received a welcome hug from fall. I may or may not have actually turned the heat on in my car (guilty). I'm sure many of you, like myself, are ecstatic about the weather (never mind the 80 degrees coming back this week). But for me, this time of year can make dressing just down right confusing. It's chilly in the mornings and evenings but very warm during the day. So the question becomes, "How the heck do I dress for this?" I feel you, girl. I'm here to offer a few suggestions to help us both figure out some transitional pieces. 1. Why am I cold? When the weather prediction for the day ends up in the 80's, start your morning with a basic, solid cardigan that will keep you warm but not distract from your outfit. You don't need to pull out your peacoat yet. Also, you don't have to feel older than you really are by choosing a cardi. Try a light-weight, loose-fitting cardigan that is floor length like this one from H&M.

2. Can I still wear shorts? Sure, why not? If it's warm enough, then keep wearing them! Another suggestion as the weather becomes much cooler at night is to pair tights under your shorts. I love this look of sheer tights under shorts. It looks great paired with booties and flannel as well as we get further into fall.

3. What about white? Ah, yes, the classic "no white after Labor Day" rule. I'm just gonna come right out and say it: I hate that and don't believe in it. If you wanna wear white, you go, girl! I love this look of white jeans with a comfy, cute sweater and floppy hat. Classy, chic, and it's perfect for the transitional fall weather.
